A router is an amazing tool for communication; it creates internet connections with several devices by a wireless signal. However, a Wireless router gives hiccups to the user by its performance and speed. It is so disappointing and frustrating.
Even sometimes I frustrate by its performance, but now I know what I should do.
Read on, if you are suffering from its disappointing and frustrating speed.
- Network extender- The problem with the wireless network signals is that it covers plenty of ground (If you are on the edge of coverage, performance can plummet).
With the help of extenders, you can boost signal strength & improve performance.
- Strains network resources- Try to watch all devices to ensure one connection isn’t hogging resources, because when you connect more than one device to a wireless network, other devices on the signal will notice the network strain.
- Not using port forwarding- The Common performance issue in wireless routers is the inability to run certain programs, multiplayer games, Smartphone apps. It is happening because the router’s default security settings block devices from using certain ports. With the help of port forwarding, you can open these ports.
- The router positioned in a poor location- The router location is important and it can also affect how other devices connect. When you set the router on one side of the home or office, it faces struggles to connect with devices on the other side.
- Configured your router to save power- The newer design wireless routers help to cut back on utility costs. This option in the router settings referred to as “Transmission Power”. It is up to you, you can select Low, medium or high levels of transmission power.
Note- If your setting is set to “AUTO” turn it off.
